Woven fabrics are built from two sets of yarns: the warp, which runs vertically along the length of the fabric, and the weft, which interlaces horizontally across the width. These yarns work together to create the structure, design, and texture of the final fabric.

Before weaving begins, the wool fibres need some preparation. They are too short and weak on their own, so they undergo a process called spinning. During spinning, the fibres are rapidly twisted together, forming a long, continuous yarn with the desired thickness and texture.

Warping the loom is the first step in getting the yarn ready for weaving. Long sections of warp yarn are wound onto a large drum called a warping drum. Once wound, the yarns are then transferred to a weaver's beam on the loom, prepared for the weaving process to begin.
