Job Description
Textile manufacturing company specialising in high quality luxurious fabrics including cashmere, lambswool, angora, vicuna and camelhair. Apprenticeships available for 16-24 year olds, an exciting opportunity to join a company that manufactures handcrafted cashmere and woollen cloth. With 3 opportunities to work in either inspection, knotting or weaving. This is a great opportunity for those who have attention to detail and enjoy working practically and methodically.
Duties to include:
• Health safety, welfare and legislation in textile manufacturing
• learn about supply chain, goods, procurement and customers effective working relationships
• Understanding fibres, yarns and fabrics – fibre classification & fibre practical and testing
• Understanding textile processes (scouring, blending, carding, spinning, twisting & winding)
• Quality systems – standards of performance, measuring and analysing the quality
• Understanding textile processes (warping, weaving, mending, finishing and inspection)
• Understanding textile processes (nonwoven, dyeing and finishing)
• Understanding the environmental impact of textiles

Desired qualifications:
• English and maths Grade C/4 (or equivalent)
Training Provider:
• You will be provided with a structured learning programme; this includes attending training sessions delivered by the Textile Centre of Excellence. As part of this, you will learn about the different processes involved in the manufacture of Textiles and will visit other textile companies to learn about different processes.
• You will be visited in the workplace at least once a month to work on assignments and be assessed to build a portfolio of work.
• Level 2 Textile Manufacturing Operative Standard
• Functional Skills and maths and English if required
• The apprenticeship will finish with an end-point assessment to show you have finished the programme.

The Role
Working predominantly on the John Foster brand, part of the Luxury Fabrics group, this is a role for a senior sales person, with experience in the worsted / woollen cloth industry. You will be familiar with the luxury market with a proven track record in export markets in Europe and the USA. Knowledge of the middle east market would be an advantage. Good knowledge of design/ manufacture would be helpful as you’ll be working closely with the design team to ensure we are developing products to the needs of our customers…
Whilst John Foster brand will be your main focus you will also assist with the sales for our other successful group brands of William Halstead, Kynoch, Standeven and Escorial.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for the sales activity of the John Foster brand.
• Delivering sales and profit targets as agreed with the Managing Director.
• Daily management of agents.
• Daily communication with customers and agents in your designated markets.
• Providing support in your colleague’s markets as required.
• Customer visits in the UK, Europe and the United States.
• Participation in seasonal cloth exhibitions.
• Working with the design and sales teams to develop new products and seasonal collections.
• Along with the Directors preparing the annual sales budget for the brand.
Preferred Skills
• European language skills would be an advantage (Italian etc)
• Worsted / Woollen cloth sales experience – Essential
• European and USA export experience – Essential
• Middle East export – Desirable
• Design and Manufacturing knowledge – Desirable

Under the Luxury Fabrics banner, the group are proud to have five world-famous, high-quality worsted brands in John Foster, William Halstead, Kynoch, Charles Clayton and S.Selka. These worsted brands supply high-end fashion houses as wholesalers, tailors and cloth manufacturers across the globe.
Working as part of a small team to provide support to the designers and ensure the smooth running of the pattern room. You will need to demonstrate precisions, accuracy and desire to provide great customer service at all times.
The Role
You will be required to:
• Measure and layout patterns accurately and with keen attention to detail
• Accurately cut out samples for sending to customers etc
• Work with a variety of woven fabrics ensuring they are handled carefully
• Work closely with the designers to meet the requirements of the customers
Preferred Skills
Previous experience in pattern cutting would be an advantage
Good communication skills with neat handwriting
Able to work as part of a small team
Attention to detail in all aspects of work
Computer literacy is essential (Word, Excel, Outlook)
